Bruce Stewart, Vice President, Loss Control

 A graduate of Westfield State College with a degree in Economics and Finance, Bruce has been involved in the insurance business since 1987. He has worked in claims as an adjuster starting his career with USF&G, CNA and Great American Insurance, where he was the Assistant VP of Claims for National Programs. Bruce has been directly involved in Claims and Loss Control for Strategic Markets for 10 years and now heads up the Strategic Markets Claims and also Loss Control for all programs in the Strategic Markets, Municipal and Private School Divisions of Massamont Insurance Agency, Inc.

Richard Daisy, Loss Control Director

Arlene Dobson, Senior Safety Consultant

Arlene has many years experience in loss Control working for major carriers including  Kemper, CNA, Peerless and Great American. She graduated with honors, earning a BS degree in Occupational Safety and Health from the University of New Haven and a Master of Science Degree in Human Nutrition from the University of Bridgeport. Arlene is a  Certified Safety Professional, Past President of local chapter of American Society Safety Engineers, and 1992 Safety Professional of the Year recipient.  She has specialized training in Industrial Hygiene, Construction, Property and Ergonomics. Other interests include:  holistic health, nutrition, gardening, photography and rollerblading.

Gerry Davis, Senior Safety Consultant

Gerry comes to the Metrogard Program with a background in health and safety and over 20 years of experience in both civilian and military sectors.  Some of Gerry’s safety experience includes: General Dynamics-Electric Boat, CNA Insurance Companies and Stanley Works Corporation.  His proven results-oriented success is demonstrated by improving loss control programs and results at several firms, implementing OSHA supervisor training and increasing safety and environmental compliance at Stanley’s European sites. Gerry served as an ergonomic and a fleet specialist for CNA where he performed client audits and training in several areas.

In addition, Gerry is a certified Defensive Driver instructor for DDC-4; currently completing the A.R.M., a former Army Reserve Drill Sergeant, Civil Affairs Specialist and currently Master Sergeant in the US Army Reserve a certified instructor for Civil Affairs 5th Battalion, 3RD Brigade, 98th Division.  He holds a BS degree in Health and Science, and a Masters of Science. Gerry is a RI native where he resides in Saunderstown with his wife Marianne.  

Gerry has just returned from active duty as the First Sergeant for the 5th Battalion Civil Affairs School, 98th Division, at Fort Dix NJ.  He is the Safety NCO for the 5th Battalion and is training soldiers for Civil Affairs special operation duty in Iraq and elsewhere. 

Jeff Gibson, Senior Safety Consultant

Jeff brings over 15 years of experience to the Metrogard Program in the commercial industry most recently from the One Beacon Insurance Company. Specializing in risk evaluation, safety and ergonomic training in addition to hygiene consulting services, Jeff holds as Associate Safety Professional (ASP) designation and is a certified Defensive Driving Instructor (DDC-A) Jeff graduated from Keene State College with a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Safety, and is an active member of his hometown Northwood, NH, Fire Department.

Paul Chipman,

Senior Loss Control & Field Services Representative

Paul joined Massamont in January of 2005, having been a senior loss control representative with Massachusetts Interlocal Insurance Association. After graduating from Boston College in 1975, with a Bachelor’s of Science in Finance, Paul found the world of budget and accounting stifling. He entered the insurance industry in the 1986, as a broker and performed commercial risk evaluations.  Paul lives with his wife Patty in Scituate, Massachusetts and enjoys fishing, sailboat racing, cruising and anything else in, on or under the ocean.

Laurie Shaw, Loss Control Coordinator

Laurie joined Massamont in February of 2004, working in the Issuance Department and later joined the Loss Control Staff as the Loss Control Coordinator in November of 2005.  Laurie came to us after working 20 years at the Greenfield Middle School in Greenfield, MA as their In School Suspension/ Time Out/ Planning Room Teacher.  Laurie lives with her husband Bob of 32 years in Northfield, Massachusetts where they have raised two sons and a daughter.  She enjoys gardening, spending time with family and friends, working with children of all ages and spending time at the ocean (specifically York, ME) and reading a good book.
